Mandy Moore was relatively young when she embarked on the path towards singing stardom. She was initially recognized for singing the National Anthem in many local ballparks, as well as at local events, and was signed to Sony 550 records, after being discovered by a FedEx guy. She was only 15 years old. Mandy’s first major release was entitled, “So Real”, and she gained much attention when touring with the Backstreet Boy’s on their 1999 tour. Moore has gained her share of musical success, but was overshadowed by her peers in the same singing generation. Moore came along during the same stretch of time that put her talents up against Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, Christina Aguilera, N’SYNC, and the Backstreet Boys. Moore was known more as the girl next door out of the group, which proved to give her modest commercial success, but critical acclaim, when compared to the other members of her class.
Though Moore experienced an adequate amount of financial gain, she thought that she would try her hand as an actress, and gained a starring role in “A Walk to Remember”, which put her alongside up and coming heartthrob, Shane West. Moore was cast for the role due to her endearing demeanor, which would prove handy for a role of such an emotional calling. Moore has experienced very widespread success as being a model for cosmetics companies, while also being a talk show host on MTV. Many people treasure her as a role model type figure that seems very compassionate and does not mix her looks with her talent, though she has gained acclaim on lists put out by Maxim and FHM. Moore has recently continued to act, and was originally cast in “Cursed” and “Havoc”, but was cut out of both roles due to scheduling conflicts and conflicts of personal interests.

Moore has been linked to many different actors and sports stars. Moore was reported to have dated Wilmer Valderamma in 2002, though they broke up rather quickly. Then, she was very public with her romance with Andy Roddick, who a rising tennis star, and one of the few United States tennis stars. Moore has also been linked to Zack Braff, who is the star of NBC’s “Scrubs”, and though they broke up quickly, they still are seen frequently as friends.
Moore’s parents have and/or had very interesting occupations. Her mother is an anchorwoman for a news station, while her father is a pilot for American Airlines. They both made many sacrifices for their daughter’s career, and Mandy’s initial foray into the acting business was to be an opening to her dream of becoming an anchorwoman, like her mother. Moore gives much credit to her parents for keeping her modest and down to earth. She is very high on family values, and does not encourage showing a lot of skin in order to make album sales higher.
