Tara Reid has a petite frame at five foot, five inches but presents herself in towering presence. Reid is daughter of Tom and Donna Reid, both teachers from Wyckoff, New Jersey. Her parents own and operate a pair of child care centers.
Tara Reid has an all-American look of the blonde hair and blue eyed beauty, but her family heritage includes ancestors from England, France, Hungary, Ireland and Italy.
Although born in the Garden State of New Jersey, Reid grew up in New York, New York, where she attended the Professional Children’s School. Some of her classmates included fellow child actors Sarah Michelle Gellar, Macaulay Culkin, Ben Taylor, Holly Marie Combs and Jerry O’Connell; other alumni of the school include Julia Stiles, Mischa Barton, Christina Ricci and other well known female celebrities.
Reid has two brothers and one sister. Her brother Tommy Reid is an entertainment producer who owns his own production company, and her other brother Patrick runs a clothing store, Patrick Reid, located in Santa Monica, California where Tara serves as a fashion consultant.
In 2006, Tara and her brother Tommy teamed up for the movie, 7-10 Split; Tommy directed the movie and Tara starred in and produced the movie.
Beginning at the early age of six, Tara Reid began her career, first appearing in the short-lived adult game show, Child’s Play. After a year on the game show, Reid received enough exposure and experience as a child actress to begin to get noticed and offers for additional work. She enjoyed an active career as a child appearing in numerous commercials for Jell-O, McDonald’s, and Crayola.
Tara Reid’s all-American yet unique looks coupled with her talents and experience continued to bode well for the young actress. In 1987, she scored a role in Stephen King’s A Return to Salem’s Lot.
For the next decade, Reid continued to work as a child actress while continuing her education, mainly with a short stint on television shows like Saved by the Bell: A New Class and a guest role on California Dreams.
In 1998, Tara Reid scored a coupe by landing a major role in a The Big Labowski, a film by the famous Coen brothers. Tara enjoyed being associated with other big names in the production such as John Goodman, Julianne Moore, Jeff Bridges and a not yet well-known Philip Seymour Hoffman. ’98 would also see Reid appear in I Woke Up Early the Day I Died, and the teen thriller, Urban Legend, where she co-starred with popular female celebrities Alicia Witt and Rebecca Gayheart.
After another movie role in ’98 in Girl, Reid would have a stellar year in 1999, beginning with television movie, What We Did That Night, and a small role in, Cruel Intentions. That summer, Tara Reid would star in Around the Fire, and the she became a female actress that all would know from that point forward after the release of the surprise hit movie, American Pie, where she co-starred with Shannon Elizabeth, Alyson Hannigan, and Mena Suvari.
Now with a recognizable name Tara Reid has gone on to star in many more movies including: Body Shots, Dr. T & the Women (co-starring Helen Hunt and Kate Hudson), Just Visiting, Josie and the Pussycats (co-starring Rachael Leigh Cook and Rosario Dawson), American Pie 2, National Lampoon’s Van Wilder, My Boss’s Daughter, Devil’s Pond, Alone in the Dark and more.
