Amy Winehouse Cancels North American Dates

Amy Winehouse has postponed her US and Canada concerts because of concerns about her health. The popular British singer, who was recently taken to hospital, has been advised to rest by doctors after “the rigors involved in touring” took their toll. The star recently pulled out of a number of engagements in Europe, including two concerts with the Rolling Stones, the V festival and the T in the Park in Scotland. The US and Canada concerts are now due to go ahead early next year. “Until then, Amy has been ordered to rest and is working with medical professionals to address her health,” said a spokesperson. Meanwhile, the 23-year-old star today received four nominations for this year’s Mobo awards. Fantasia Barrino Wowing Critic on Broadway

Idol contestant and Broadway actress Fantasia has wowed critics in her role as Celie, the down-trodden character in the Broadway musical ‘The Color Purple.’ The former American Idol champ has not had a lot of acting experience other than a Lifetime Movie Channel movie about her life where she played herself, which would not have been remotely considered challenging. The lack of acting experience certainly has not hurt Fantasia. She is putting her all into this show. Bette Midler May be Fined for Cutting Trees

Bette Midler, singer/actress may be fined for cutting down more than 230 trees around her property on the island of Kauai. Midler cut the trees without obtaining a permit and the state of Hawaii is recommending that she be fined. The Board of Land and Natural Resources recommends a fine of $6,500 for having the trees cut and for building a graded road without permits required for the land zoned for conservation use. Midler said she didn’t realize permits were needed to remove trees on a vacant 58,000-square-foot parcel of land on Kauai’s North Shore. The idea to cut the trees in the first place was to improve the lot with native species instead of the nonnative invasive plant species that had grown on the lot. Keira Knightley has advised would be Hollywood stars to pursue a career in financial services, rather than try to make a career in the movie industry. The Pirates of the Caribbean actress said that it “frightens” her when she hears young people saying they want to be famous. Knightley, who has been known to struggle with the pressures of fame, advised those who want to follow her lead to “go work in the stock market”. “The magic is in the screen, not knowing what’s behind it, because that ruins the magic,” she told British magazine, the Radio Times. Kristen Bell Joins the Cast of Heroes

Kristen Bell is going from being Veronica Mars who solved mysteries to being a part of Heroes where she will be a mystery. The 27-year-old actress will appear in many episodes on “Heroes” this fall. “This was not easy to pull off. But since we are an ensemble show, with many arcs playing out through the year, we found a way to jump into a small window in her schedule. I pitched her the idea we have for the character, which she loved, and we’re off and running.” Tim Kring, the shows executive producer and creator, said on Monday. Foxy Brown Charged with Lying to Police

Foxy Brown is in trouble again. Brown is accused of lying to police during a traffic stop. Brown was driving a sport utility vehicle last week when she was stopped for talking on her cell phone and going through a stop sign in Mahwah, N.J. When the police checked Brown’s SUV she was driving, it showed the registration had been suspended. The 27-year-old rapper gave the police a variation of her real name, which is Inga Marchand. She also gave the wrong date of birth. Of course the police checked her name she gave, which didn’t show up on any records. The police then asked Brown again for her name and date of birth. Unfortunately for Brown, the Police also found out she was driving under a suspended license.
