Julia Roberts Wins American Cinematheque Career Award

Oscar-winning actress Julia Roberts, 40, was the unanimous choice of the Cinematheque Board of Directors selection as the winner of the 22nd annual American Cinematheque Award for 2007, which honors career achievements. Last year she presented George Clooney with his award. Previous winners include Martin Scorcese, Al Pacino, Nicolas Cage, Steven Spielberg, Nicole Kidman, and Tom Cruise. The award will be presented on October 12 to Roberts at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in the International Ballroom and the ceremony will be broadcast in December on AMC, the exclusive broadcast partner of the annual event since 2003. It is the biggest benefit for American Cinematheque, which owns and operates two area theaters that show classic, experimental and non-mainstream films and videos, the Egyptian Theater, built in 1922 on Hollywood Boulevard, and the Aero Theater, built in 1940 in Santa Monica. Lindsay Lohan Arrested Again - More DUI and Drug Charges

Merely five days after Lindsay Lohan was formally charged with drunken driving in relation to a May incident, the actress is once again arrested. Early Tuesday morning, Lohan was under arrest after allegedly chasing her personal assistant’s mother. She was arrested with a charge of drunk driving and possession of a controlled substance. Moreover, she was charged with other offenses. Lohan was supposedly under the influence and was caught with a small quantity of cocaine in her pants. According to Lt. Alex Padilla, the actress’ personal assistant’s mother reported to the police department on Tuesday that someone was reportedly chasing her while she was on her way to Santa Monica, California. Consequently, the mother arrived at a parking lot that’s just close to the police department. Kelly Clarkson is finally speaking out about her relationship with her record label head Clive Davis. “There has been quite a bit of controversy surrounding the release of ‘My December’, much of which has focused on a supposed feud with my record label, in particular, Clive Davis,” she says in a statement posted on her official Kelly Clarkson website. “I want to set the record straight by saying that I want my band, my advisors, those close to me and my record label to be one big, tightly knit family. It seems Paris Hilton made a good start in fulfilling the promises she uttered after the socialite’s three week stint in Los Angeles County Jail. The hotel heiress well known for her notoriety in wild partying, Paris Hilton was caught violating her probation due to a reckless driving incident related to alcohol, she was sentenced to 45 days in jail last May 2007, of which she served 23 days. The infamous Paris the Heiress recently showed up at a charity gala of a friend that was meant to raise money for children suffering from spinal cord injuries. When Paris Hilton was asked about the event, the heiress turned model, actress and singer had nothing but praises to Sunday’s Life Rolls On Foundation’s 4th Annual Night By the Ocean auction. Sandi Thom Victim of Flood - Thousands in Damages

Scottish singer Sandi Thom has become the latest victim of the floods devastating the south of England this week. The floods, which are reported to be the worst to hit Britain since 1947, have filled the 25 year old female singing celebrity’s flat in Tooting, London, with three feet of water. Sandi Thom is currently on holiday in Greece and has not been made aware of the damage which was discovered by her brother who had gone round to feed her cat. The musician had amps and guitar in her lounge which have now been ruined and the flooring in her flat obviously heavily damaged. Replacements and repairs are likely to cost thousands of pounds. Rowling has been tight lipped about the whole release of the seventh installment of the Harry Potter book. So many kids are asking the question, “Will Harry die?” But to find out you will have to read the book. All Rowling will say it, “Harry’s story comes to a definite end in book seven.” (Note: As of Sunday the sales of the book broke Border’s single-day record of 1.2 million copies worldwide.)
