Female Celebrities - Daily NewsLindsay Lohan Cleared in Clothing TheftFriday, May 18, 2007 Lindsay Lohan’s most recent involvement with Los Angeles law enforcement started in April with an accusation of stolen clothing. A house sitter filed a report with police claiming Lohan had entered her apartment and stole clothing worth several thousand dollars. The house sitter later told authorities that she had offered Lohan the clothing. The District Attorney’s Office declined to file felony grand theft charges on May 9th based largely on a lack of sufficient evidence. Authorities claimed that a plaid shirt seen on Lohan did not match photos of a shirt claimed to be missing, and they will not be pursuing the case any further. Bollywood actress and female celebrity Shilpa Shetty, was charged with obscenity after being blamed for not refusing the on-air kiss. People in India found Gere’s actions to be obscene as publicly displaying affection is taboo in India. Devout Hindus rallied against the actors’ display in various cities in India. Richard Gere expressed regrets for offending anyone with his actions, while the attorney for Shilpa Shetty, Anand Grover, expressed his client’s outrage, calling the charges “frivolous.” Initially, Gere acted as if his public display of affection was not a big deal.
