She says the two-part movie is not a run-of-the-mill horror film. The director, Robert Rodriguez, says he used McGowan as the foundation for Cherry Darling, a depressed go-go dancer with a machine gun. McGowan is by far one of the strongest females he’s known, he claims. This strength might refer to the plastic surgery McGowan, age 33, had to get earlier this year.
