A Spice Girl Reunion, of Sorts
Monday, April 23, 2007
The majority of the Spice Girls reunited over the weekend to celebrate the christening of Geri Halliwell’s baby daughter, Bluebell Madonna.
According to a story in People magazine, Geri held a christening ceremony followed by lunch in her garden. Guests are quoted as saying that the weather was beautiful, Geri was beautiful, and baby Bluebell was beautiful in an antique christening gown.
The only Spice Girl missing was Scary Spice, Melanie Brown. Brown gave birth to a daughter of her own on April 3rd. Guests say that Geri and the other Spice Girls understood that it would have been too early for Brown and the baby to fly for an event such as that of a christening.
Baby Bluebell Madonna was born in London last May. Geri states that she named her baby after flowers and her favorite singer, Madonna. Says Geri of the baby’s first name, “What really clinched it for me was my mother telling me that the bluebell is increasingly rare – so it’s a precious flower, which seems just right for my daughter,”
Geri’s estranged ex, ‘Terminal’ screenwriter Sacha Gervasi, was absent from his daughter’s christening.
Bluebells godparents are Victoria Beckham, 33, and George Michael’s partner, Kenny Goss.
Spotted among the 100 guests were Baby Spice, Emma Bunton, and Sporty Spice Melanie Chisholm. Onlookers say that the four Spice Girls talked four hours about old times and plans for the future.
So, will there be a reunion tour? Friends say it is a definite possibility, but the timing has to be right. One unidentified guest told People magazine, guest. “I think they would like to do a reunion at some point but the time is not right just yet. Emma is heavily pregnant, Victoria wants another child and both Geri and Mel B are new moms.”
