Poor Paula’s Got a Broken Nose

Tuesday, May 22, 2007

Paula Abdul may be sporting a different nose after a recent break.

Animal lover Paula Abdul tripped after trying to avoid stepping on her pet Chihuahua, Tulip, on Saturday. The resulting fall has left her with a broken nose, confirmed her rep David Brokaw via People Magazine.

Brokaw assured Abdul fans that the star was doing really well, and is moving on from the incident. He reports that she looks fantastic, and you would never know that her nose was broken.

Ever the trooper, Abdul will not miss any work time and is still scheduled to appear for the American Idol performance show on Tuesday and the season finale on Wednesday. The season finale has Jordon Sparks going head to head with contender Blake Lewis for the sixth American Idol title to be awarded.

Brokaw also reassured concerned fans that her beloved dog Tulip was also fine. Abdul jokingly reported that “Tulip has no remorse. She just stared at me.”

Although she maintains that she is good spirits, the broken nose is quite painful, even though she has few visible bruises from the fall.

Abdul had suffered a 25 year battle with chronic pain that thankfully ended in 2005. She had been diagnosed with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy syndrome in 2004. This disorder causes extreme unexplained pain. She has been successfully treated with the medication Pamidroate for the syndrome. She also takes the Arthritis medication Enbrel.

Her current pain medication regimen was not disclosed, but Brokaw assured fans that if she was taking anything, it was not having any negative impact. He reported that she was clear headed, and her usual fun loving self.

Paula Abdul will continue to serve in her role as judge on the top ranked American Idol, and assures her fans that her recent fall has affected neither her looks, nor her ability to work.
