Angelina Jolie: It’s A Boy
Thursday, March 15, 2007
United Nations Good Will Ambassador, Angelina Jolie, checked into the Hyatt Regency in Chi Minh City on Wednesday. According to a CNN report, Jolie is in Vietnam to adopt her 4th child.
Jolie and her son Maddox were greeted at Tam Binh orphanage by children offering flowers. Jolie’s son Maddox (age 5) was adopted from Cambodia. It is believed that Jolie brought Maddox with her to Tam Binh in an effort to get the two boys acquainted. Jolie has an adopted daughter (Zaharah) and a natural daughter (Shiloh) with actor Brad Pitt. Neither Pitt nor the other two children accompanied Jolie to Vietnam.
The newest member to her ever growing family is a three year old boy named Pax, supposedly in good health. He was abandoned as an infant. Tam Binh claims that it has tried unsuccessfully to find the boy’s natural parents.
Jolie and Maddox left the orphanage with the 3 year old boy. From there reporters followed her car to the Vietnam Department of Justice; where it is said that an adoption ceremony was carried out. It is being reported that Jolie must also meet with U.S. consular officials, who must review the adoption papers before a passport can be granted.
Several years ago Vietnam suspended it’s adoption program due to fears that children were being exploited. About a year ago Vietnam resumed its’ adoption program with the US after strict guidelines were put into place. Since then, about 450 children have been adopted by U.S. citizens.
Jolie and partner Brad Pitt visited the orphanage back in November; which is when Jolie started the adoption process. She adopted son Maddox after visiting his orphanage while in Cambodia shooting Tomb Raider. She is expected to leave Vietnam with her new son later this week.
