Thursday, February 08, 2007
In a sad ironic twist, CelebrityPhotoBook.com published a story earlier today about the hard knocks Anna Nicole Smith has undergone in the recent past, only to learn a few hours later of her untimely death. The famous female celebrity, actress and one-time model died after collapsing in her hotel today, shortly after noon local time.
Details of her death are still unknown at this point as well as the cause according to Edwina Johnson, chief investigator of the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office. An autopsy would be conducted on Friday.
The sketchy details of the events leading up Anna Nicole Smith’s death are causing massive speculation. According to the coroner’s office, she was stricken while at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and was rushed to a hospital. Seminole Police Chief Charlie Tiger said Smith’s private nurse called 911 upon finding her collapsed in her hotel room. According to statements given to the police, Smith’s bodyguard administered CPR about an hour before she was declared dead.
Born Vickie Lynn Hogan on November 28, 1967 in Houston, Texas, she quickly rose to fame after being discovered my Hugh Hefner in 1992. She appeared on the cover of Playboy magazine (March 1992) in a low-cut evening gown, and was dubbed the next Marilyn Monroe. Smith liked the comparison and encouraged it by wearing a hairstyle reminiscent of Monroe’s, as well as her trademark white dress.
As more sad irony may yet be revealed, her former attorney, Lenard Leeds indicates another possible connection and likeness to her idol, Marilyn Monroe. “She wanted to be like Marilyn her whole life and ironically died in a similar manner,” Leeds said. Monroe died of a drug overdose at age 36 in 1962. His statement will undoubtedly cause more speculation before the facts come out, but it seems to indicate what others are already saying – drugs may be the cause or a factor in her death. On her reality show and other recent TV appearances, her speech was often slurred and she seemed out of it. Some critics said she seemed drugged-out.
Even if drugs aren’t a contributing factor, Leeds went on to point out other similarities between the two female celebrities – troubled lives, stating that she, “… always had problems with her weight going up and down, and there’s no question she used alcohol.” Leeds said it was no secret that “she had a very troubled life” and had “so many, many problems.”
