Anne Hathaway on the Way to More Roles

After mastering a British accent for her part as famous author Jane Austen in “Becoming Jane,” Anne Hathaway is expected to be the next American actress to snap major female English roles from Gwyneth Paltrow. Paltrow notably played in such films as “Emma,” but “Princess Diaries” star Hathaway is taking over.
All the fuss and attention causes Anne Hathaway to blush. She says she hates the stares--which some people argue is just from her beauty--and especially loathes people unpacking her bags. She refuses to accept such help, since she doesn’t want others in her underwear.
Her recent part in “The Devil Wears Prada” involved a haircut. The twenty–four-year-old actress confesses that she panicked when the director told her the haircut would influence girls to cut their hair that way; how many mothers are going to like their daughters wanting expensive haircuts? She readily admits, though, that it’s distinctly better than the trends Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan try to set. Her character, at least, wore underwear.
That doesn’t mean Hathaway isn’t willing to do what it takes to get a scene right. This shows up in such details as in kissing scenes--when she often demands a closed mouth and no tongue, and is pleased by the rare actor who specifies that, himself--and love scenes. The film “Brokeback Mountain” had such a scene with actor Jake Gylenhaal, and, since the scene’s realism demanded it, she allowed him to touch her “girls.”
