Another Day, Another Award For Scarlett Johansson

The profile of US Actress Scarlett Johansson seems to be going from strength to strength, with yet another award for the “natural beauty”.  She beat off a host of celebrities including Angelina Jolie, Beyonce Knowles and Pamela Anderson to claim the title of Playboy’s “Sexiest Celebrity” - no mean feat for the 22 year old from New York.

While the professional career of Ms Johansson has never been better, she has never been far from controversy with her recent out spoken comments about fidelity.  While not exactly condoning promiscuity, she highlighted her hectic love life and willingness to “sleep around” in certain situations. Ms Johansson also claimed that she regularly takes HIV tests, with many observers dismayed at what was seen as an acceptance of unsafe sex, in a age where HIV and sexually transmitted diseases are on the increase.

While Scarlett Johansson is still only 22 years of age, she seems to have packed in so much in her short acting career, receiving rave reviews for her roles in The Horse Whisperer, Ghost World as well as wining awards for Lost Translation, Girl With A Pearl Earring to name but a few.  She recently starred in the thriller The Prestige which was released in October 2006, and has other movies “in the can” which will be released in 2007.

Ms Johansson has become something of a role model amongst the youngsters of today, although she sometimes seems uncomfortable with the influence this carries.  Her recent comments about promiscuity, and the condemnation which they attracted, may well have surprised Ms Johansson but upon reflection she should understand the stand point of the commentators. 

One thing is for sure, if the recent comments about her forthcoming movies are to be believed her influence with her younger audience, and power on the world stage will be even higher in 2007.  Lets hope that she learns to turn this into a positive and set a sensible example to her many followers.
