Court Orders Britney to Pay Ex-hubby’s Legal Bills

Wednesday, November 07, 2007

It never seems to end with Britney Spears’ troubles these days. After spending a whopping $225,279.000 on her own legal bills, she now has been ordered by the court commissioner to pay Kevin Federline $120,000 for his legal bills. This is on top of paying Federline $35,000 a month in spousal and child support. The spousal part or $20,000 will expire November 15, probably not if Federline and his lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan have anything to do about it.

Kaplan petitioned the court for $160,000 last month. Federline did pay a portion of that amount to the tune of $31,900 and evidently according to E! Online, Kaplan stated that he is in “immediate and dire need of attorneys’ fees.” Kaplan stated that the former back-up singer has maybe $726,000 in assets, but $125,000 is earmarked for other bills.

Well, guess you can’t blame Federline; he is a stay-at-home dad after all and has been fighting tooth and nail for custody. And Britney’s monthly income overshadows Federline’s entire net worth and her new Blackout album is about to be a hit. Blackout, Britney’s first studio album in four years débuts November 7 and is predicted to debut at the top of the Billboard 200, after already moving nearly 290,000 copies.

Attorneys on both sides have been burning the midnight oil since Federline gained custody October 1 of two-year-old Sean Preston and one-year-old Jayden James, which they say, was due to Britney’s conduct. Basically that means it has been Britney’s fault.

Britney Spears after having her visitation rights suspended, the court commissioner Scott Gorden allowed visitation under supervision October 26 granting two supervised afternoon visits and one overnight visit.
