Britney Spears’ Ex, Kevin Federline Seeks Divorce Case Legal Costs
Friday, August 31, 2007
Britney Spears’ high-profile split with Kevin Federline has taken a new twist with the news that her ex’s lawyers now want her to pay some of his legal expenses in their divorce case.
Federline’s lawyers are now claiming that Spears should pay $50,000 towards his legal expenses because she is “clearly the monied party”, while he has “no net income”.
There has been no comment from Spears’ legal representatives.
The celebrity couple’s separation was finalized in July, less than three years after their 2004 marriage. Spears, who apparently earns $737,868 a month, filed for divorce on November 8, citing irreconcilable differences.
This latest twist in the saga comes amid the couple’s ongoing custody battle over their two sons, 22-month-old Sean Preston and 10-month-old Jayden James.
The battle between the estranged couple got underway in a Los Angeles court earlier this week when a hearing was set for September 4.
Spears and Federline have shared joint custody of the children since February.
At first it seemed Federline was happy to allow Spears to have full custody of the two boys. However, he has since sued for full custody himself, prompting the present high-profile custody battle.
However, there was some good news for Spears this week as she was cleared of being a danger to her pets by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Los Angeles (SPCA).
There were suspicions that her Yorkshire Terrier ‘London’ had sustained a broken leg after being man-handled by the star’s two young sons. However, a full investigation by the SPCA revealed that the two youngsters were not at fault and the Society said Britney Spears made sure the dog received proper medical attention.
