Britney Spears Faces Hit-and-Run Charges

Britney Spears is to face hit-and-run charges after she allegedly hit a parked car in a Los Angeles car park and drove off last month.
The Associated Press has reported that the owner of the car filed a report with police on August 9, three days after the alleged incident occurred. The extent of the damage to both cars is not known.
This latest development is another major blow for the singer as she could face six months in jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted. She was notified of the charges by letter this week.
It has been a bad month for Britney who is in the middle of a custody battle over her two sons with ex-husband Kevin Federline. Last week, a Superior Court judge ordered that Spears undergo random drug and alcohol testing.
The judge also ordered Spears to spend eight hours a week working with a parenting coach who will be observing her and her interaction with her children.
A hearing has been scheduled for October 10. However, she will not have to attend because the charges are misdemeanors.
Britney, who has a new album due out in November, gave her first major performance in three years when she appeared at the MTV Music Awards earlier this month.
However, the long-awaited comeback turned out to be a major anti-climax as the 25-year-old celebrity failed to excite.
Dressed in a bra and briefs, which did little to hide the fact that she is seriously out of shape, Britney Spears’ badly-mimed performance of her new single Gimme More lacked the energy and sass that shot her to stardom.
