Britney Spears Deemed Fit to Care for Pets

Tuesday, August 28, 2007

Britney Spears custody battle with Kevin Federline may be dominating the headlines but the singer and actress will be relieved to hear that she has been cleared of being a danger to her pets by the Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals in Los Angeles (SPCA).

SPCA officials there last week launched an investigation after it emerged that her Yorkshire Terrier London had sustained a broken leg. There were suspicions that the star’s two sons may have been responsible for the injury.

However, Spears is now off the SPCA’s most wanted list after a full investigation. It is believed that the dog sustained the injury when a visitor at Spears’ California home stepped on the pooch by mistake.

The SPCA in Los Angeles publicly thanked Britney Spears, 25, for her cooperation in relation to the incident and confirmed that London received proper medical attention.

London is believed to be the same Yorkie that Spears was pictured buying for $3,000 at the Pets of Bel Air pet store in mid July.

Meanwhile, Spears and Federline’s child custody battle got underway in a Los Angeles court.

The battle centers around their two sons, 23-month-old Sean Preston and 11-month-old Jayden James.

Attorneys for the estranged couple met with a lawyer from the Los Angeles County Counsel on Monday, when a hearing was set for September 4.

After a tempestuous marriage with Federline, Spears filed for divorce on November 8, citing irreconcilable differences. It initially seemed like Federline would not object to Spears’ custody of the kids. However, he has since sued for full custody, prompting the present high-profile custody battle.
