Mel B Names Baby Murphy

British singer and television actress Melanie Brown baptized as Mel B during her time as member of the famous 90’s pop group The Spice Girls – has named her new daughter Angel Iris Murphy Brown, effectively giving the little girl the last name of Mel’s ex-boyfriend, Eddie Murphy.

Brown insists that her daughter is the result of her relationship with famous American comedian and ‘Dreamgirls’ star Eddie Murphy and thus she had the baby named after him. In a statement, Mel B said how much she thought when it came to picking the little girl’s name: “Angel, as she was my little angel through my pregnancy. Iris, as it’s my grandma’s name”, she said. “Murphy, because he’s the dad. And Brown, because I’m the mum!”. 

Melanie Brown gave birth to her second daughter, Angel Iris, last April 3rd in California, USA. Weighing around 5 pounds 4 ounces the healthy baby girl was born at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica just after midnight.

Although ‘Scary Spice’ - as she was named due to her aggressive stance during her time with the Spice Girls - seems to be quite sure who the father is, it appears that American movie Star Eddie Murphy does not share her ex-girlfriend’s confidence. “I don’t know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test”, Murphy said on a Dutch TV show last December when the subject came in. “You shouldn’t jump to conclusions, sir” he stated energetically when asked about the subject.

A battle to confirm the identity of the battle is to be expected then.

It seems Mel B is not worried by the least regarding the subject. “I look at the baby and she has his big smile and dimples”, Brown said regarding her daughter’s resemblance with former boyfriend Murphy. “She’s gorgeous. She has taken the best bits of both of us. He will always be a part of my life. I will always love him. I couldn’t hate Eddie. We had a dream life” she added, concerning the time she spent with the American star.
