Will the Third Time Be a Charm for Britney?

Yes, its’ true—Britney is back in rehab, for the third time within a week. Thanks to intervention from family and friends, Britney re-entered the Promise Center rehab in Malibu, California.  This latest development comes just two days after she spent only 24 hours at this same rehab center and then checked herself out.

The pop princess was driven to rehab by her mother, Lynn Spears, late Wednesday night. What made Britney change her mind and agree to go? Reports say that it was the threat of loosing custody of her two children, Jayden James and Sean Preston.  Britney’s ex, Kevin Federline, asked for an emergency court hearing on Thursday to get custody of their two children; citing Britney’s recent erratic behavior as just cause to prove she is not capable of being a good mother. There was such a frenzy of on lookers at the court house that people had to take a number in order to get in. The court hearing was called off at the last minute by Federline.

Apparently, the couple met the night before and hashed out a quickie custody agreement. In the agreement, Federline would call off the custody hearing if Britney agreed to go back to Promise and stay the full course of the treatment (usually 30 - 45 days). Britney also had to agree to give Federline custody of their two children during her stay in rehab.

Britney spotted a group of paparazzi upon exiting the meeting. She immediately started to yell and curse at reporters and photographers. She even hit one photographer with an umbrella. Could a law suite be far behind?

Will the third time be a charm for Britney? Or, will it be three strikes and you’re out?
