Kelly Clarkson Speaks out about Clive Davis

Kelly Clarkson is finally speaking out about her relationship with her record label head Clive Davis. “There has been quite a bit of controversy surrounding the release of ‘My December’, much of which has focused on a supposed feud with my record label, in particular, Clive Davis,” she says in a statement posted on her official Kelly Clarkson website.

“I want to set the record straight by saying that I want my band, my advisors, those close to me and my record label to be one big, tightly knit family. Like any family we will disagree and argue sometimes, but in the end, it’s respect and admiration that will keep us together…A lot has been made in the press about my relationship with Clive. Much of this has been blown out of proportion and taken out of context … I really regret how everything has turned out and I apologize to those whom I have done disservice. I would never intentionally hurt anyone.”

The last couple of months haven’t been too easy on Clarkson. She recently fired her manager and canceled her tour. It was because of the public clash with Clive Davis on the direction her latest album, ‘My December’, the first album she co-produced and wrote.

Kelly Clarkson started as an extra in many well known TV shows but got frustrated when she wasn’t getting anywhere. She moved back to Texas to try to make it as a singer. In 2002, she entered the competition called “American Idol.” Clarkson ended up in the final two with Justin Guarini, September 4, 2002; she won with 58% of the votes.

Kelly Clarkson has recently hired a new manager Narvel Blackstock, CEO of Nashville-based Starstruck Entertainment and husband of singer Reba McIntire.

‘My December’ – which has yet to produce a hit single – is number five on the Billboard’s 200 top albums chart, and it debuted at number two.

Kelly Clarkson’s first album, ‘Thankful’ (2003) sold over 1 million copies. The multi-platinum ‘Breakaway’ (2004) did much better to give Kelly Clarkson the right to be called a singer, instead of that girl from “American Idol.”
