Courtney Love is Selling Kurt Cobain’s Belongings
Tuesday, May 01, 2007
Punk rocker Courtney Love will be auctioning off the possessions of her late husband, Kurt Cobain (of Nirvana fame).
Love, who is 42 years old, told Spinner.com that her house is like a mausoleum, and that it is time to clean house and get a fresh start.
Love and Cobain married in 1992, during the height of the grunge look when groups like Nirvana and Pearl Jam controlled the air waves. That same year Love gave birth to the daughter that she had with Cobain. Their daughter is named Frances Bean. Just two years later, in 1994, Cobain committed suicide.
Love says that Frances Bean does not need to inherit a, “bag full of flannel shirts” and that their daughter will only inherit Cobian’s sweater, his guitar, and the lyrics to the Nirvana hit song, “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”
Love went on to say that her friends support her in the idea. “Everyone’s been positive and behind me on it,” she says. “We’ll make a lot of money and give a bunch of it to charity.”
AOL publicist Kurt Patat told The Associated Press on Monday that there is no date set for the auction.
Love has a new lease on life. She recently completed rehab and has lost a ton of weight. She has a new album out soon titled, “Nobody’s Daughter”. And now, she is finally starting to come to grips with the loss of her husband. She wishes to move on. Says Love, “I still wear his pajamas to bed. How am I ever going to go form another relationship in my lifetime wearing Kurt’s pajamas?”
