Extended Care for Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan has had a difficult time recovering from her latest party going escapades.  Although she’s been in and out of rehab, Lindsay invariably seems to suffer setbacks.  According to her Mom, Dina Lohan, the young actress decided on her own to extend her stay at the rehab facility.  Lindsay was released from rehab in January of this year, but was arrested once again in May, when she was found in possession of an unknown substance, presumably cocaine, after wrecking her expensive Mercedes Benz in Malibu.  It was back to rehab for a second try at getting her life in order. 

Lindsay is determined to get help for her substance abuse problem, which is obviously a serious one, causing a great deal of turmoil that is affecting her career and her life.  Fortunately, Mom talks to her every day, giving encouragement and support, and saying that her daughter is doing great.  Dina took time, however, to attend the recent family court hearing in Mineola, New York.  Presiding Judge Stacy Bennett recommended that both parents, Dina and Michael Lohan, who have been in and out of court over the divorce agreement, go through counseling and therapy in an effort to reunite the father with the two youngest children, Michael and Ali, ages 13 and 11.  Michael was recently released from a prison term for drunken driving and assault, but wants to see or at least talk to his children.  At the hearing, Judge Bennett ordered that Michael be allowed more telephone contact. 

The ongoing legal battles over visitation rights between the parents have been unpleasant and caused even more stress for Lindsay, who has been estranged from her father for some time.  Whether Lindsay’s Mom will agree to be part of the therapy remains to be seen, but it probably would help Lindsay on the road to recovery to see her parents in agreement.  For someone so young, who will be 21 on July 2, life has not been easy - hopefully, the third time is the charm.
