Hilton Shows Up for Jail!
Monday, June 04, 2007
“Every action has a reaction,” said the Merovingian to Neo in the blockbuster movie Matrix Reloaded. If Paris Hilton saw this movie, it seems that she didn’t consider the importance of this phrase; especially in a law-abiding country like the United States. For the inheritor of the Hilton fortune is now in jail.
In the last few weeks Paris Hilton has been the number one headline in newspapers all over the world. At first it seemed that this rich girl was going to avoid her responsibility. At the end though, justice triumphed and she will serve 23 days in prison.
According to Sergeant Diane Hecht of the Los Angeles Sheriff Department, Hilton was very cooperative during the booking. She didn’t cause any kind of trouble in the whole process which includes fingerprinting, photographs and a medical screen.
However, it seems that being rich means something to American justice; Hilton won’t spend her time in a public cell. She will spend the 23 days of her sentence in a cell destined for celebrities and other public figures.
Will Hilton be able to cope with the pressure of being 23 days away from luxury? Doubtful, especially if we consider that she will only have 1 hour per day to take a bath, watch TV and make calls with the jail phone.
Maybe this experience will help Hilton. According to recent declarations, she will begin to be more conscious of her acts. Unfortunately her closest friends won’t be able to help her. After all, Lindsay Lohan has problems of her own. It seems that, like Hilton, she will spend some time in jail.
It will be a long, long time for Paris Hilton. Twenty three days is a long period for someone who is accustomed to live in a never-ending party. Only time will tell if, after this experience, Hilton will change for good.
