Jennifer Lopez Enters Arbitration With Ex Over Book
Tuesday, February 06, 2007
Ojani Noa, Jennifer Lopez’s ex husband, has used a ghost writer to write a tell all book about his eleven month marriage to the actress/singer. Nine months ago Jennifer Lopez won a breach of contract suit barring Ojani Noa from publishing his tell all book. In the lawsuit Jennifer Lopez also asked for arbitration. Last Monday, Superior Court Judge Victor H. Person ordered Ojani Noa to honor the arbitration decision.
Ojani Noa, who married Jennifer Lopez after meeting her in a Miami restaurant in 1997, claims that his book is really about his life story and that Jennifer Lopez is only one portion of the book. He claims that Jennifer Lopez and her attorney, Paul N. Sorrell, are trying to ruin his reputation. Ojani Noa also claims that Jennifer Lopez “lured” him into working for her and then fired him only five months later.
Official court documents state that, in Ojani Noa’s book, he gives intimate details about their sex life, and also accuses Jennifer Lopez of having several affairs while they were married, including an affair with her now husband Marc Anthony.
Ojani Noa, who is without legal representation, told Judge Person that he wants the benefit of a public trial. Jennifer Lopez has been trying very hard to keep the lawsuit under wraps. She was forced to go public in order to get a preliminary junction against Ojani Noa.
Jennifer Lopez has starred in the romantic comedy, The Wedding Singer, the thriller Angel Eyes, and the comedy Monster In Law.
Her attorney, Paul N. Sorrell, claims that Jennifer Lopez stands to lose over ten million dollars in damages if the book hits the markets.
Judge Person has ordered a progress hearing in the arbitration proceeding to be held July 30 of this year.
