A Russian billionaire forked over two billion dollars for Jennifer Lopez to perform at his birthday party on Saturday night. The lavish bash was a joint celebration for the birthdays of both the billionaire and his model wife.
Andrei Melnichenko paid Jennifer Lopez $1.2 million for the 40 minute set. He also coughed up another $800,000 to fly Lopez, her husband Mark Anthony, and her crew from the states to England. Melnichinko put them up in the Mandarin Oriental in London.
Sixty guests, including Russian and Serbian tycoons attended the party held at Melnichenko’s twenty seven acre estate in Surrey, England. Melnichenko, who is worth $5 billion made his fortune founding MDM Bank. He has a reputation for being a party addict who is willing to fork over millions in order to have a good time.
The eccentric billionaire is no stranger to lavish celebrations. In 2003, he paid Christina Aguilera a reported $4 million to perform at his 2005 wedding in the south of France. He is married to a 30-year old, former model named AlekSandra Nikolic Melnichenko.
Jennifer Lopez’s 40 minute set included her hit, ‘Jenny From the Block.’ No word on whether or not she did any duets with her husband, singer Marc Anthony.
Despite her lavish pay rate, Lopez did not visit any high end shops while in London. Instead, she and husband Anthony spent an hour shopping at the bargain favorite, Topshop.
