Jessica Simpson’s Overanxious Flop
Friday, December 22, 2006
Though able to return to the public eye and to attend parties, might some of Jessica Simpson’s anxiety-induced agoraphobia linger? After her separation and divorce from her ex-husband, Nick Lachey, there came a point where Jessica faced panic attacks whenever she stepped out her door. Her family and friends helped her past that.
But at a recent tribute performance for Dolly Parton, Simpson flopped. CBS completely removed her from the “Kennedy Center Honors” broadcast per her request.
In her first attempt to sing “9 to 5,” she messed up the words and couldn’t even complete the song, rambled about being too nervous and stared like a deer in the headlights for a few seconds before bounding off the stage. She gladly accepted an offer to retry, but after viewing the advance tape, she was disappointed with her performance and requested its removal from the program. (Simpson relied too heavily on her note cards).
Before even trying to sing the song, Simpson had been a nervous wreck backstage, crying and pacing while the others sang their tributes. She claims it’s because Dolly is such an idol for her, but her recent anxiety problems could also be at fault.
Then again, her ex-husband did call her last Friday to let her know directly that he was remarrying so she wouldn’t learn it through the paparazzi. Sources have called Jessica Simpson disappointed from this news.
Despite plastic-surgery–happy Joan Rivers recently calling her stupid and relying on her husband’s money, Jessica Simpson (whose current lack of a husband is old news) hasn’t taken the critique to heart. She’s fond of her body as it is. She says she would consider surgery when she’s older to counter the usual chest sagging, but she has no intentions of touching her face.
