Kate Walsh Ties the Knot With Her McDreamy

Kate Walsh, who plays Dr. Addison Montgomery on the ABC drama ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and who will be reprising that role in the spin-off ‘Private Practice’ due to debut on September 26, has married her fiancé of four months, Alex Young, a movie executive. The couple was married in a sunset ceremony at the Ojai Presbyterian Church in the resort town of Ojai on September 1 with the reception being held at the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa Casa Elar, a Spanish-style estate.

The 39-year-old bride and the 36-year-old groom exchanged vows in front of 110 guests including Grey’s Anatomy costars Sara Ramirez, Katherine Heigl and Chandra Wilson. Walsh wore a custom-made gown from celebrity wedding dresser Monique Lhuillier along with diamond and platinum earrings from Jeweler Neil Lane, who designed their hand made wedding bands.

Alex Young proposed to Walsh during a trip for two to San Francisco a day after ABC announced it will be picking up Walsh’s spin-off series Private Practice for the fall season.

The couple went public with their relationship at an April 26 Los Angeles fundraiser for Barack Obama, they were unable to hide their engagement for very long due to the huge engagement ring Walsh was sporting.

Kate Walsh was born Kathleen Walsh on October 13, 1967. Her first major role on television was as Drew Carey’s girlfriend Nicki on the Drew Carey Show in 1997. Walsh wore a fat suit from time to time in the show as her character gained and lost weight.

She portrayed the character Carol Nelson in ‘The Mind of the Married Man on HBO and played a transsexual in an episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Kate Walsh was also seen as Norm MacDonald’s romantic interest in the comedy ‘The Norm Show’.
