New Kylie Minogue Tracks Appear on Internet
Friday, September 28, 2007
Kylie Minogue fans got a taste of what is to come in the star’s next album when two rejected songs appeared on the internet this week.
The tracks, Spell of Desire and In The Mood For Love, briefly appeared on the website of Scottish DJ Mylo, who collaborated with Minogue for the two tracks. They have since been taken off of the website.
Minogue’s eagerly awaited tenth album, X, is due out in November and will be her first since she was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago. However, she has made a full recovery after treatment and last year completed her postponed Showgirl Homecoming tour. This summer, it was announced that she will be appearing in the Christmas edition of the British show Doctor Who.
The Australian pop sensation originally made her name in the 1980s from her role in hit Australian soap Neighbors. She was signed by recording company Stock, Aitken and Waterman and was an immediate hit going straight to number one with I Should Be So Lucky.
In 1989 she teamed up with fellow Neighbors star Jason Donovan to record Especially For You, which was also a huge hit in the United Kingdom.
While other acts signed by Stock, Aitken and Waterman fell by the wayside in the early 1990s, Kylie embarked on a mission to change her image and become accepted by more mature audiences.
Through the 1990s Kylie defied the cynics and established herself as a serious artist, often displaying a darker side to her music with collaborations with artists such as Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
Since 2000 Kylie Minogue’s popularity has grown even further and her 2005 tour promised to be her biggest ever. Now, having made a full recovery and with an eagerly awaited album on the way it seems her popularity can only grow further.
