Lauren Bacall Shows No Signs of Slowing Down

Lauren Bacall is 82 years old. But, her age hasn’t slowed her down any. Lauren Bacall recently presented herself and her new film, The Walker, to the Berlin Film Festival.

Lauren Bacall has been acting for over 60 years. Known as much for her beauty as for her acting ability, Lauren Bacall started her movie career in the 1940’s. Her acting credits include starring roles in many critically acclaimed movies including The Big Sleep and Key Largo.  As recently as 1996, Lauren Bacall was nominated for an Oscar for her role in the movie The Mirror Has Two Faces.

Lauren Bacall seems to not be slowing down any with age and she is as outspoken as ever. When asked how she feels about television she replied that she thinks that television is lowering the standards of movie making. “I think there are still people who really want to do good work. Unfortunately, in television, sometimes they want to do good work but a lot of the time they’re doing terrible work—and I think that has affected movie making badly.”

In her new film, The Walker, Lauren Bacall stars opposite Woody Harrelson ( famous for his role in the TV sitcom Cheers). Woody Harrelson plays a very high end escort. Lauren Bacall’s character is a client of Woody Harrelson’s who also happens to be a very influential Washingtonian. The movie is sure to have tongues wagging all over the Washington political scene.

Lauren Bacall says that she has no plans to slow down. She said that, to her, to work is to be alive, “At the end of every movie, always I’m feeling, ‘You’re never going to work again,’ That’s going to happen one day, but I hope I’m not alive.”
