Lindsay Lohan’s Mom on the Defensive

Dina Lohan, is not just Lindsay Lohan’s manager, she is also her mother. So, she really takes things to heart when her daughter gets bad publicity. After all, one can conceive that it is not just bad publicity for Lindsay, but a bad rep for Dina’s parenting skills.
In the April issue of Harper’s Bazaar, Dina Lohan lashes out at the media and tries to set the record straight. However, her attempts at coming off as the straight mom don’t always succeed; instead she often comes off as the mom who is trying way too hard to be cool--using slang and lingo such as; “loser butt”. She even goes as far as saying she gets bad publicity because she is beautiful--and compares herself to the icon Ann Margaret.
When asked about her late nights of partying with Lindsay at the hotspot, Bungalow 8, she said, “Lindsay would drag me, literally drag my loser butt there.” “Oh, the party mom, the party mom, the party mom!,” she continued, “Whoever said that, my ex-husband or whatever, I’m not the party mom! You throw enough pasta on the walls, some pasta’s going to stick, okay?”
Dina doesn’t seem to think that partying with her daughter is unusual. Nor, does she think that it has contributed to her daughter’s problems with substance abuse. “We are not a bunch of screw ups,” she says, “It’s not a weird, freaky thing. No, we’re normal. It’s normalcy.”
Dina still denies that her daughter has a substance abuse problem. She claims that Lindsay is just a, “20-year-old who had to reel it in.”
Still, others are still skeptical about Lindsay and her mom, Dina. The media wasn’t slow to publish negative opinions; most notably the New York Post. Dina’s rep (yep, the manager-mom has her own media representative) had this to say in her defense, “The woman is honest. Just because the New York Post and Rosie O’Donnell take everything out of context? There’s nothing bad there. Dina’s doing the best she can with what she has. [She] has three other kids. No one ever talks about that.”
