Madonna Headlines Live Earth Concert

Pop sensation Madonna has been picked to headline the UK version of the Live Earth Concert series. Madonna who has never shied away from controversy is more than happy to be lending her voice to the cause of environmental conservation. Seven Live Earth concerts will take place around the globe on July 7th as a way to highlight global warming and its effects on the earth
Madonna will be joined on stage at Wembley Stadium by other music industry giants including: The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Duran Duran, Snow Patrol, James Blunt, Foo Fighters, Rae, and The Black Eyed Peas. More acts are expected to be announced at a later date.
The United States concert will take place in Giants Stadium in New Jersey. Among the acts slated to perform in the United States are The Police, Bon Jovi, Fall Out Boy, Alicia Keys and The Smashing Pumpkins.
There will also be concerts in Johannesburg, Rio de Janeiro, Shanghai, Sydney and Tokyo.
The Live Earth Concert Series is the brain child of ex U.S. Vice President Al Gore. Gore recently won much acclaim for his movie about global warming titled, ‘An Inconvenient Truth’.
Al Gore states that he hopes Live Earth will give billions of people a way to express their concern about global warming while educating others and raising money for research and conservation efforts.
Says Gore, “We hope Live Earth will launch a global campaign, giving a critical mass of people around the world the tools they need to help solve the climate crisis.”
Profits from The Live Earth concerts will go to the following organizations: Alliance for Climate Protection, the Climate Group and Stop Climate Chaos.
Madonna fans need to act fast in order to score a ticket to this concert. Tickets for the UK show will be allocated by a ballot and fans must register their interest online for 72 hours from 1200 BST (1100 GMT) on Friday.
