Marie Osmond Faces Another Challenge…

Marie Osmond, of Donny and Marie fame, and America’s favourite girl next door for many years is facing another sad event in her life.  Marie, 47, and her husband, Brian Blosil, 54 and a former record producer, have been married for 20 years.  After divorcing her first husband Stephen Craig in 1985, Marie and Brian were wed in 1986.  There was a brief separation between the two in 1998, but for the most part, the marriage seemed to be a happy one.  The couple has a family of eight children, five of whom are adopted and a son from her first marriage, in addition to their own two.  Since they are both Mormons, family is certainly a first priority.  Much to everyone’s surprise and disappointment, they have just announced the sad news - they are in the process of getting a divorce.  In their defence, however, there is no other person involved, and no ugly charges are being made.  This is simply, it seems, a mutual agreement that they have decided upon, for reasons they wish to remain private.  Both have publicly stated there is no blame being put on either side.  Marie and Brian intend to continue being the active and supportive parents they’ve always been, caring for and loving their children.  Marie has had an interesting life, beginning her career as a 13-year old child singing star with the hit song “Paper Roses.” The world remembers her, as well, from the 1970’s, when she and Donny, her brother, had their own show.

Although she has had some issues with depression, she denies any past rumours of suicide.  Fully admitting to some emotional issues after the birth of Matthew, Marie published a book Behind the Smile:  My Journey out of Postpartum Depression in 2001.  Through the years, she has proven to be a strong and resourceful woman, and currently, she owns a profitable business in the Marie Osmond dolls that are sold worldwide.
