Lovely Michelle Pfeiffer Returns

Michelle Pfeiffer

After a five year absence from the big screen, Michelle Pfeiffer has returned in the upcoming film, Hairspray, scheduled to open in theaters on July 20th.  At 49, Pfeiffer is still singing and dancing with the same natural charm and talent we remember from 1989’s The Fabulous Baker Boys.  As Velma Von Tussle in Hairspray, Michelle Pfeiffer co-stars with John Travolta, playing the part of a television station manager and widowed mother of Brittany Snow.

Velma is a ruthless mom who does everything she can to embarrass Tracy, the overweight teen who has managed to win a spot in the beauty queen contestant.  Her vicious comments on Tracy’s appearance are certainly not a part of Michelle’s real personality, and she admits to being unaware of the other undesirable traits in Velma when she accepted the script.  She was a bit hesitant about her children’s reaction to her singing again and to Velma’s prejudices, but was determined to play the part well and have as much fun as she could doing it.

The lovely actress has been happily married to David E. Kelley, creator of Ally McBeal and Boston Legal, for over 13 years.  Devoted to their two children, Claudia Rose and John Henry, Pfeiffer and Kelley spend time away from the hectic Hollywood scene in their home in Northern California.  Pfeiffer has a great deal of respect for Angelina, Madonna, and other actresses who have adopted children, since she adopted Claudia Rose before marrying Kelley.  The years have been good to Michelle Pfeiffer who stays away from plastic surgery, having never found it necessary.  We’re sure her fans would have to agree.

Along with or despite, the navy blue toe nail polish, attributed to having a 14-year old daughter, Michelle Pfeiffer is as lovely as ever.  Nominated three times for an Oscar, but with no plans to do Broadway, Pfeiffer seems thrilled to be back making movies.  She will appear after Hairspray as Larnia in the romantic fantasy Stardust, opening in theaters August 2007, that puts Michelle Pfeiffer alongside other female celebrity favorites Claire Danes and Sienna Miller.
