Naomi Campbell Talks About Community Service Stint
Tuesday, April 10, 2007
Controversy seems to follow Naomi Campbell around wherever she goes. She has never shied away from it and she even seems to thrive in its’ midst. The drama queen even managed to turn community service into a high end fashion event.
Naomi pleaded no contest to charges of injuring her maid by throwing a phone at the woman and hitting her in the head. As a result, Naomi was sentenced to anger management classes, probation and a week of community service at the New York sanitation department.
This is the same place where Boy George did his stint of community service (he was found guilty of falsely calling police to his apartment—once there the police found cocaine). However, while Boy George swept up dirt off the streets (out in the open) while wearing orange caution vests; Naomi did her work inside. Everyday she arrived to do her duty with her head held high and wearing a variety of clothing and fashion accessories fit for a runway show.
Naomi is now talking to the press about her experience. She says that she has learned much about herself. She claims that she is no longer in denial. However, she did not go into detail about what it is she has been denying. She also states that she has reached a point in her life where she is at peace with herself and those around her.
She remains friends with some of the people she met in the sanitation department. One man in particular (known as the ‘Sanitation Stud’) she has kept in contact with. No romance rumors here--he is happily married. Naomi says that he and his wife have gone out to dinner with her.
She says that all of the crew at the sanitation department were very friendly. She denies rumors that she had to clean toilets. Naomi states that she cleaned up offices by emptying trash cans, scrubbing walls, and sweeping and mopping floors.
Naomi denies that she planned her wardrobe ahead of time. She said that her fashion show wardrobe was an accident.
