Naomi Watts Welcomes Baby Boy

On Thursday, the couple Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber welcomes their first baby and it’s a boy - Alexander Pete Schreiber!

According to publicist Robin Baum, the baby was born in Los Angeles weighing 8 pounds and 4 ounces. In addition, the healthy baby boy is measuring 22.5 inches in length and arrived “slightly ahead of schedule” since Watts’ due date was supposed to be early August.

In regards to how the first-time parents were doing, Baum said, “They (the parents) are ecstatic.” He also mentioned that Naomi and the baby are doing fine.

It is also reported that the mother and baby are at a hospital located near the “King-Kong” star’s home in LA in the Brentwood neighborhood.

Last weekend, the couple who both starred in the 2006 movie “The Painted Veil”, held an intimate baby shower at their LA home. The event was attended by an estimate of 15 guests which includes famous people Carla Gugino and Kate Hudson. The baby shower was not the usual all-female occasion because all throughout the event, Liev Schreiber was there to celebrate with everyone.

A few months ago, Watts was quoted talking about her pregnancy that she’s “Being relaxed and moving at a much slower pace and enjoying it.” She added that she’s just really glad to be pregnant.

On the other hand, the first time 39 year old father had announced the pregnancy on the Late Night with Conan O’ Brien past February. In the show, he said that he wants to stay out of the process of choosing a name for the baby. However, he made it clear that he would not be calling the child “Liev”, saying that it’s an awful name and “probably the most oft-mispronounced name in showbiz.” Consequently, while talking to reporters at the Tony Awards last June, Schreiber jokingly said that he’s thinking of “Tony” as a nice name for their baby.

Naomi Watts, 38, and Liev Schreiber have been dating for 2 years and are not married to each other amidst reports of having tied the knot.
