Paris Hilton singing a new tune

Paris Hilton is set to transform herself from former jailbird to opera singer.
Hilton is set to star in a futuristic musical thriller titled Repo! The Genetic Opera, as she begins her after-jail transformation into a responsible person.
Repo! The Genetic Opera is set in the future, the year 2056 to be exact and centers on a common science fiction theme; a mysterious plague that threatens the survival of us all and hinges on paying for an expensive organ transplant. The Opera also stars Paul Sorvino as the organ-transplant tycoon and the film’s resident bad-guy. Due to a variety of financial shenanigans, such as ever increasing interest rate, organs become fodder for foreclosures. This is where the ‘Repo’ man comes in. The film is set to be shot in Toronto and will be completed in 2008.
Songs in the film will range from opera to modern rock. The film includes stars Alexa Vega, an actress and singer best known as Carmen Cortex of the Spy Kids trilogy.
Repo! The Genetic Opera was a play that opened at the Wings Theater, and off-off Broadway Theater located on Christopher Street in New York on August 4, 2005. The play closed August 27, 2005.
Singing and acting are not new to the 25-year-old hotel heiress. Hilton starred in a horror remake House of Wax and cameos of herself showed up in Raising Helen and Zoolander. In 2006, she released her debut album, Paris, which sold more than 600,000 copies and spawned a top 20 single ‘Stars are Blind’.
Hilton has been hitting the studios since she has been out of jail revving up her singing career and is looking to add to her musical repertoire.
Paris Hilton may be well on her way in learning the lessons of other long-lived entertainers like Madonna on the art re-inventing oneself.
