Paula Abdul Fights Back

As US talent show American Idol continues to go from strength to strength with ratings rising, and the profile of the shows judges on the up, it is Paula Abdul who keeps hitting the headlines. 

Over the last few months there has been constant speculation about her private life as her appearances on the show become ever more bizarre.  Many have been talking about her incoherent speech, her weird and wonderful comments, not to mention her constant flirting with the “stars” of the show.

The 44 year old star who has forged a very successful career both in front of and behind the camera has been dogged by claims of drinking problems, with some even suggesting some form of substance abuse. While her team have rolled out the old “on medication” reasoning behind her irrational behaviour the speculation will just not go away.

On the show Paula Abdul is renowned for her love hate relationship with fellow judge Simon Cowell, which has resulted in a number of disagreements and heated debates.  The show continues to climb the ratings in the US as Cowell and his team try to replicate the UK version of his hit show. There have been
some “unique” entrants to the show, which on many occasions has looked more like a comedy show than a serious talent contest.

The TV program has already unearthed a number of “stars” both in the US and UK, although it continues to be panned by the music industry.  Unpeturbed by the criticism there are plans for the show to continue for some time yet, with the current panel of judges (including Ms Abdul) already signed up for the 2008 series. 

As long as the ever youthful Abdul is around, the show is sure to hit the headlines, although she is determined to rid herself of these unfounded rumours.
