Queen Latifah Offers Support

If there is something that can be said about Queen Latifah, is that she is quite an artist. Since the beginning of her career, she has proven, once and over again, that she is quite versatile.

Although she has suffered greatly due to the loss of her brother, Latifah has been able to withstand the difficulties in her life and continue with her career. The first time we heard about her was at the end of the eighties, when she joined Ladies Fresh, a rap group.

After that, she continued with her musical career and began her career as an actress. At first it was at TV series but with time she jumped to the big screen. She even was nominated to the Oscars for her role in Chicago.

Now, Latifah is ready for her next role. This time as a woman who suffers of AIDS in HBO TV Series, “Life Support.” In a recent interview she manifested that her new role had been quite challenging, especially if we consider that people in the street always remind her of whom she really is: a star.

Although most of the roles of Latifah have involved comedy films like “Bringing Down the House” (a movie that co-starred with Steve Martin) or Last Holiday (a remake of the 1950’s movie), she confessed that drama has always attracted her.

As a matter of fact, it was drama that pushed her to acting. Back in school she interpreted a role in “Godspell”, a musical that is based on the Gospel of Saint Matthew. There she found that it was the kind of thing that she wanted to do.

Although it took her a long time to accomplish her dream, Queen Latifah doesn’t regret the path that she has followed. She considers that part of being a good actor is to experience life.
