Another star, another private video on the internet!

Kim Kardashian, who is a close pal of glamorous socialite Paris Hilton, is the latest celebrity starlet to be hit by the release of a private video, which was made three years ago with the full consent of both Kardashian and her then partner Willie “Ray J” Norwood.  The 26 year old is said to be furious that the video has found its way onto the internet, and is set for release to the open market.

In order to prohibit distribution of the tape Ms Kardashian has filed a lawsuit against adult entertainment company Vivid Entertainment, who are rumoured to have acquired the rights to the tape for a cool $1 million. While the Vivid Entertainment company will be fighting the lawsuit, it appears that Ms Kardashian was not aware that the video was in circulation, and Vivid Entertainment will not reveal the third party who sold the rights.

This episode has similarities to the Pamela Anderson video tape which was circulated around the internet, and ended up with Ms Anderson agreeing a deal with an official distributor, and taking a commission on each sale.  Historically these cases do not hold up well in the courts, and the fact that Ms Kardashian’s tape is already in circulation will weaken her case.

Ms Kardashian is the daughter of O.J. Simpson’s attorney Robert Kardashian so she is guaranteed to have the best representation available. However there is speculation that an agreement will be reached prior to going to court, with Ms Kardashian unlikely to be willing to divulge details of her often controversial social life in open court.

The hearing is scheduled for later this year, and it will be interesting to see how it effects the already heightened profile of Ms Kardashian, and her socialite friends.
