Spears and Federline’s Divorce Finalized
Monday, July 30, 2007
On Monday, July 30, 2007, Britney Spears and Kevin Federline finalized their divorce. This is according to the paperwork that was filed in LA Superior Court. Scott Gordon, LA Superior Court Commissioner signed the papers on Monday afternoon.
When the hearing was finished, Laura Wesser, Britney Spears’ lawyer, commented, “she’s (Spears) okay with the terms of their settlement.
It was reported that before the hearing started, Wasser shared information that both Spears and Federline arranged to maintain a 50-50 custody of their two children namely Sean Preston, who’ll be turning two this September, and Jayden James, born after a year of his elder brother’s birth. However, when the lawyer was asked about the estranged couple’s financial settlement, she refused to make a comment.
It is reported that the 25-year old singer-actress filed for divorce on the 6th of November last year. On the papers, “irreconcilable differences” was cited with the 29 year old dancer Kevin Federline. They were married a little more than 2 years at that time.
This past March, the estranged couple had an “initial divorce settlement” where it was mentioned that both parents would have joint physical and legal custody of their two boys. However, three months later, Federline was still avoiding signing the papers because, as was reported, Spears’ unreliable behavior was concerning him. It can be remembered that the singer spent a couple of days at the Promises rehab center and was very visible in the party and nightclub scene.
In the past weeks, Britney Spears’ erratic antics have triggered concern among the public eye including that of family and friends. She had gone swimming in her skivvies, had that doomed photo shoot with OK! Magazine and went boating with her two sons sans lifejackets.
