The Pussycat Dolls Add Reality to Glamour

First there was Survivor, then American Idol, and now, the Pussycat Dolls. CW network’s Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll premieres tonight at 9 pm ET/PT. In this show several young wanna be Pussycats will sing, dance and otherwise strut their stuff to impress the judges. The winner becomes the seventh Pussycat Doll.

Tonight’s premiere episode will be hosted by Sugar Ray lead singer Mark McGrath.  The Pussycat Dolls were formed by Robin Anti-n; who not only produces the show but is also one of the judges. Other producers include McG (who co-produced Charlies Angels) and Ken Mok (who produces Top Model). Nearly 8,000 women showed up for the auditions. Robin Anti-n has been planning this show for some time. She says that, originally, the series was going to be a reality TV show about daily life as a Pussycat Doll. However, she soon realized that an element of competition would create a bigger audience.

The Pussycat Dolls may get the critics in an uproar over their raw sexuality and (some say) lack of musical taste. Whether you like them or not, you can’t deny that young teens love the band (both males and females alike). The Dolls have their own makeup and clothing lines.

The Pussycat Dolls have worked with some of the best in the business including Gwyn Stefani, and Snoop Dog. They have their own line of clothing and makeup.

The television series had a rough beginning as a bad case of the flu traveled through the cast. The series premiere actually shows some of the contestants getting sick. Robin Anti-n said that, at first, she thought that the contestants were faking. Then she got the flu and was rolled up in a ball on her bathroom floor.

The Pussycat Dolls appear in the show in snippets.  They will be providing advice and inspiration to the contestants.
