The Wait is Over, We Know Who Fathered Anna Nicole Smith’s Baby
Thursday, April 12, 2007
The DNA test results are back and we now know for sure who fathered the baby of the late Anna Nicole Smith. The biological father of her baby, Daniellynn, is David Birkhead.
David Birkhead, a professional photographer, first met Anna Nicole Smith at a Kentucky Derby party in 2003. The two started dating when they met at the same event the following year.
Birkhead claims that Anna Nicole was five months pregnant when they broke off their relationship. Anna Nicole then started dating her lawyer, Howard K. Stern. The couple had a commitment ceremony and Stern claims that they were planning to legally wed when Anna Nicole died suddenly following an accidental overdose. Howard K. Stern is listed as the father on Danniellynn’s birth certificate.
Daniellynn is expected to inherit millions of dollars from Anna Nicole’s estate--including possible millions more from the estate of Anna Nicole’s first husband, oil tycoon Howard Marshall III. There is an ongoing legal battle with Marshall’s family over who gets his estate.
David Birkhead immediately left the court room and went straight to Danniellynn. According to CNN, Birkhead, for the first time, fed his daughter and changed her diaper. Howard K. Stern was beside Birkhead during his visit with Danniellynn--and coached him through the process of feeding and diaper changing.
A court hearing is scheduled for Friday to determine who gets custody of Danniellynn. Howard K. Stern has said that he will not fight for custody of the baby that he has raised for the last 7 months. Anna Nicole’s estranged mother, Virgil, has indicated that she might petition the court for custody of the child.
David Birkhead made a statement to the press saying that he will not share custody with anyone. He did say, however, that he would allow Stern and his family to continue to visit with the baby, “I have no problem with anyone that has good intentions being allowed to visit the baby and see the baby and be a part of the baby’s life.”
