What Is Behind the Breakup of Kate Middleton and Prince William?

In a follow up to yesterday’s story--more information is emerging about the breakup of Kate Middleton and Prince William. Hardly a few days have passed since the two officially broke it off; and already friends of the couple and royal insiders are speaking publicly about what they know about the couple and the end of their relationship.

They seemed perfect for each other, friends are saying. “Kate is so perfect for him,” said Katie Nicholl, Diary Editor of London’s Mail on Sunday newspaper. She is the same age as Kate and Prince William, they hang out at the same clubs, and she has been witness to the ex-couple on their outings. “He knows how to drink. I’ve seen Kate order shots and get through them.”

Nicholl states that Kate is devastated over the breakup, “I think she’s finding this very tough. She believed they would get married so this is going to be very, very difficult for her.”

So, just why did they break up? According to a CBS News report, the Royal family had issues with Kate Middleton’s middle class background. “When Mrs. Middleton, Kate’s mother met the queen she said, ‘Pleased to meet you,’ “ said royal commentator James Whitaker.”There’s nothing intrinsically wrong in that except it categorizes you as from a certain social background.” Royal eyebrows were raised further when one of Kate’s family members referred to the bathroom as the ‘toilet’ instead of the more refined word ‘lavatory’.

Prince William had commitment issues. Friends of Kate’s say that she is still upset over the bar hopping incident of two weeks ago. Prince William was photographed with his arms draped around an 18 year old Brazilian bombshell.

There are reports of another woman, blonde heiress Isabella Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe. Supposedly, Kate has been jealous of Isabella for some time.

Royal watchers are hoping that Kate and Prince William reconcile. Katie Nicholl told CBS News, “I don’t think any of us can rule out reconciliation. Kate is so perfect for him, I think people will be hoping they do get back together and, perhaps this is just a trial separation - time apart for them both to get their lives on track and maybe they will come back together. It happened to his father. It’s not impossible it will happen to him.”
