Thursday, March 29, 2007
The country singer Wynonna Judd filed for divorce on Tuesday after her estranged husband was arrested. In papers filed in the Nashville suburb of Williamson County; Judd cited irreconcilable differences as a reason for divorce.
Wynonna Judd came to fame as part of the mother daughter duo, The Judds. The Judds had many top hits and won many country music awards. The duo broke up when Wynonna’s mother discovered that she suffered from hepatitis (a potentially life threatening disease which affects the liver).
Wynonna continued to record and tour on her own. She has sold almost 30 million albums as a solo artist. Her biggest solo hits have been “No One Else on Earth” and “I Saw the Light.”
Her sister is the well known actress Ashley Judd.
Wynonna married Dan R. Roach (age 49) in 2003. This was her second marriage. The two have no children together. However, Wynonna has children from her first marriage. The two separated in February of this year; about the same time that Nashville police say they started their investigation of Dan R. Roach.
Last Thursday, Roach was arrested by police and charged with three counts of aggravated sexual battery against a child younger than 13 in Nashville. It is not known if he has a private attorney. He is being held on a $750,000 bond at the Taylor County, TX Jail. It is expected that he will be expedited to Nashville for the trial.
Roach was arrested at the Shades of Hope Treatment Center in Buffalo Gap, Texas; where he’s being treated for drug and alcohol addiction.
“I am obviously devastated,” Wynonna said on her website. “Our family will pull together, begin the healing process and hopefully—by the Grace of God—become stronger. We will move forward with our faith, family and our friends to find resolution to this difficult situation.”
