Julia Roberts Honored With Cinematheque Award

Julia Roberts was back in the news this weekend when she picked up the 2007 American Cinematheque Award in Los Angeles.

The Pretty Woman star was chosen for the award, which honors career achievements, last July when she was the unanimous choice of the Cinematheque Board of Directors.

“I really am just a girl from a little town in Georgia, who had this giant, absurd dream,” she said at the awards ceremony.

“I think I came along at a kinder time in the business.”

Oscar-winning actress Julia Roberts, 40, was the unanimous choice of the Cinematheque Board of Directors selection as the winner of the 22nd annual American Cinematheque Award for 2007, which honors career achievements. Last year she presented George Clooney with his award. Previous winners include Martin Scorcese, Al Pacino, Nicolas Cage, Steven Spielberg, Nicole Kidman, and Tom Cruise. The award will be presented on October 12 to Roberts at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in the International Ballroom and the ceremony will be broadcast in December on AMC, the exclusive broadcast partner of the annual event since 2003.

Pretty Woman Julia Roberts, now 39, and cinematographer husband Danny Moder, 38, were ecstatic as they welcomed the arrival of the third member to their growing family.

Julia Roberts gave birth to Henry Daniel Moder, weighing in at a healthy eight and one-half pounds yesterday morning at a Los Angeles hospital, and according to Julia’s publicity agent, Marcy Engelman, they are all doing just fine.

Julia Roberts is back in the film making news with a very busy work schedule. For a while it seemed that Julia was on a vacation from Hollywood, being a full-time Mom with her twins and enjoying life with her husband and cinematographer, Danny Moder. She was never too far out of the spotlight, however, appearing on Oprah and in April of this year on Broadway.
